Abstract
In the early stages of combat operations stain clothing served for visual distinction of its troops from the enemy. With increasing accuracy and range of a weapon, with the advent of automatic weapons, uniforms purchased masking function. First came monochrome painting of the "hacks", and then camouflage coloring. The article describes the history of development of methods for increasing secrecy due to the coloring of uniforms and military equipment.
